Gramly Among Elite Group of Custom Home Builders Going Green
Custom home by Gramly Construction is Nevada First LEED Silver Residence
(Las Vegas, April 20, 2011)—Mike Gramly is proud to join an elite group of home builders in the state of Nevada: those whose custom projects have earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
Working with a host of professionals, including Michael Del Gatto of Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects, and Leslie Parraguirre of Colours, Inc., Gramly Construction, Inc. facilitated this project. A total of five custom homes, including the one Gramly built, have any level of LEED certification in the state. Another 50 production homes are LEED-certified.
“It’s professionally satisfying, of course,” Gramly says, “but beyond that, I feel a strong personal sense of accomplishment. This not only fits with our mission of providing the best craftsmanship possible, but it also does something positive for the world.”
The project earned the award in December 2010 for a 26-month remodel project that encompassed photovoltaics, insulation, weatherization, proper sealing and ventilation, the use of sustainable and recycled material, elevated quality standards, on-demand water heating, energy-efficient HVAC with computer monitored thermostats, Energy Star appliances and drought-tolerant landscaping. More than three-quarters (77%) of waste was recycled.
Having earned his first LEED certification, is Gramly inspired to do others? “Absolutely,” he says. “There is a greater emphasis on quality in labor and material. Not only will the homes last longer, but they will ultimately conserve our natural resources.”
